Kate Lasky and Tomasz Skowronski, chefs from Pittsburgh’s Apteka restaurant, were named finalists for James Beard Awards. They were recognized in the Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic category, which covers Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia.

This is the first time that Pittsburgh’s restaurant makes the cut for the final five in any of James Beard Awards categories.

Apteka serves vegan Central & Eastern European cuisine on Penn Avenue in Bloomfield. Lasky and Skowronski were James Beard semifinalists last year, and the restaurant earned national acclaim from the New York Times as one of the 50 best restaurants in America.

We are happy and proud of Kate & Tomasz, our members and supporters!

CONGRATULATIONS!
